Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: There is a stage in the theatre. Why are live events not hosted here?

A: The original stage is used to support the screen. The front of a stage which can be seen by the audience is actually a faux representation. It was built to be used to cover a floor area for storage purposes. It cannot support a lot of weight. The red curtains lining the left, right, and back walls are sound-deadening material. Allowing for great Dolby THX surround sound quality. The theatre was built for one purpose only: showing movies. A tradition we are gladly continuing into the next 100 years.

Q: Why isn’t more than one movie shown during the same showtime schedule?

A: We are contractually obligated by film distributors to exclusively show their feature film for a certain number of showings. Even when the Playhouse is closed for certain weekdays (currently Monday and Tuesday), we are still under the rules of the distributor’s contract. Not all distributors have the same clause in their contracts. Yet, to bring you first-run, first-opening, big box office features, we are willing to adhere to larger distributors very strict rules.
